In March 2022 British soldier, Jack Jarvis, became the first person in history to row from from mainland Europe to mainland North America. The journey, which surpassed 4,600 miles, and took 111 days 12 hours and 22 minutes, has now been officially recognised by the Guinness World Records and saw the Southampton man raise £70,000 for charity brainstrust.
As soon as Team Nifty met with Jack over a Zoom call 12 months earlier, we instantly bought in to him and what he was trying to achieve, and we knew our services could be of huge benefit to him as he looked to raise much needed funds to achieve his dream.
Nifty provided PR, social media and sponsorship support for Jack and through our extensive media relations we were able to secure a range of national and regional coverage across TV newspapers and online media.
Publications and media outlets in which Jack was featured include BBC Breakfast, The Times, The Mirror, talkSPORT, Global News, GB News, ITV National, Sky News and The Daily Star, as well as a range of media outlets stateside. These fantastic pieces each contributed to a PR reach of more than 300,000,000. Jack also received coverage within his native Southampton, as well as further afield, including insightful podcast chats with Shaun Attwood and Chris Thrall.
Thanks to Nifty’s influencer strategy, Jack received engagement and morale-boosting shout-outs during the row from some of the UK’s most famous faces, including David Beckham, Sir Steve Redgrave, Jonny Wilkinson and Gary Neville to name a few.
Nifty also handled Jack’s socials while he was on the water and saw his following grow a staggering 400% across all platforms, with his monthly engagement often topping 200,000 – another factor which was integral to Jack smashing his fundraising target by a massive £20,000.
The British soldier has also been a noticeable benefactor of Nifty’s sponsorship skillset, with the 28-year-old receiving a Land Rover Discovery, courtesy of Nifty’s relationship with the multi-national operator of franchised motorcar dealerships, Jardine Motors. The worldwide company supplied Jack with this fantastic vehicle to help him transport his specially designed boat from the UK to Portugal, and during his pre-event training challenges around the country.
In addition to marketing and management support, Nifty helped Jack secure a worthy charity partner in Brainstrust. The charity’s efforts mean a lot to Jack following the passing of his grandad in 2007 and Jack couldn’t wait to raise some much-needed funds.
It was fantastic to support Jack through this whole campaign (especially for Christian and Sam who made the journey over to South Florida to welcome him to land!) and we are now pleased to be Jack Jarvis’ management team from this point forward. We have so much planned and can guarantee you’ll be seeing a lot more of him, so watch this space!
