Today is the last day of January, which means the end of our first ever Nifty Challenge: Hydration.
In order to complete the challenge we had to consume at least two litres of water every day, which was made a little easier by our cool water bottles (thanks Christian & Rachel!).
I am pleased to say the whole team approached this challenge head-on (Milo included), and what might have been a bit tricky to get used to at the beginning, soon become the norm, which is great as this was the intention. What starts off as a challenge, can, and hopefully will, become a healthy habit for the future.
Speaking for myself, I can honestly say the extra water consumption has helped me massively. For someone who admittedly didn’t drink enough on a day-to-day basis, it didn’t take me long to notice the benefits. My focus immediately increased and I had much more clarity, particularly with decision making.
Also, with having an active lifestyle, the change on my body and mind has been remarkable. I’m so much more up for the gym than I was previously and when I am there, my performance is far better. I’m able to train longer at a higher intensity. I also feel fitter on the football pitch on a Sunday morning.
Not only that, who knew it was so easy to get up in the morning? Once my alarm goes off, that’s it! I’m up and ready to attack the day, both for Team Nifty and in my personal life. I didn’t really struggle to get up previously but now there’s definitely a spring in my step and I love it!
Here’s a few stand-out benefits of drinking water for those that might not be aware:
- Helps you lose weight
- Increases productivity
- Reduces headaches
- Boosts your energy
- Great for your skin
I could go on, but you get the gist.
So, if you’re asking if I’ll be continuing with my two litres a day at Nifty HQ then the answer is yes. If a few more trips to the toilet means I can maintain this tempo throughout the whole of 2022 then that’s absolutely fine with me.
