The most powerful form of media right now is video and we’re all captured by it, often only realising after 15 minutes of scrolling. From funny dog clips, sports highlights, to fridge organisation (yep, they’re a thing and they’re great), we all get sucked in by one video or another. Without further ado, we thought we’d make a top tips list for creating a compelling video.
So, what really creates a compelling video?
Capture attention in the first 3 seconds
With the rise of platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube shorts, short video form is on top right now. This does mean, however, that you have split seconds to capture your audience’s attention. It is far too easy for users to scroll past if they don’t think it’s engaging, visually appealing or worth their time to watch. We’re in a new generation of lazy users. Try bold colours, jump on a trending song, or record someone speaking to the audience you are trying to reach to give a personal touch – “oh, they’re talking to me!?”.
Content is king
This is a KEY pillar of what we do with our PR and Marketing strategies within the Niftyverse. The video content you put out is how people will perceive your brand, shouts about what you do and will be their reason for investing time to find out more. The content that is created can be a range of things, not just selling what you do. This can work as part of a wider content plan, but if you are just selling – don’t expect really good results or social engagement.
Always add value
You should always be thinking when you create and put out video content; ‘is this adding any value to my audience?’
These could be informative videos about industry news, or products and how to use them. Behind the scenes and how-to videos perform really well (we know you’ve also been sucked into watching ‘tiny kitchen’ when you can’t sleep…). You can also add value through humour and being memorable, encouraging the likelihood that people will come back to see more of what you are doing and pushing out.
Consistency and nurturing
Stay on top of pushing out great video content regularly and you’ll be sure to build on your success. Don’t only engage with your audience throughout your video, follow up with people in your comments and post feeds to make sure they feel heard, you can build on your community and invest in brand ambassadors that talk about you to all their friends.
